Recreational/ Competitive Soccer Rules

Equipment:

  • Teams will be given pinnies to wear if they do not have their own team jerseys or their colours match the opposing team.

  • All players must be wearing Shin Guards before entering the field of play. Players not wearing shin guards will not be allowed to play.  Player’s socks need to cover Shin Guards.

  • No Football or Baseball cleats may be worn, only soccer cleats, turfs, or tennis

  • shoes/sneakers

  • No jewelry may be worn on the field, i.e., watches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Medical Alert Bracelets are the only exception and they must be taped down. Taping of

  • Ornamental Jewelry is not permitted. Prescription glasses may be worn but it is highly recommended they are worn with sports frames.

  • No equipment shall be worn that is considered dangerous to another player as determined by the referee.

Rosters:

  • Each game is played 7 vs 7, each team is allowed to have substitutes if necessary. Teams must have at least 5 players on the field. During the indoor seasons, each game is played 6 vs 6.

  • All teams are to present a printed team roster signed off to the referee before each game. If a player is not on the roster they can’t play unless the game official is able to contact the registrar to confirm their eligibility.

  • The team listed first on the schedule is the home team for that game.

 

Match:

  • Kick-off starts the beginning of the game or after a goal has been scored. The opposing team must remain at least 2 meters(6 feet) away from the team initiating kick-off.

  • Each team needs a minimum of 5 players on the field in order to play the match with max number of field players being 7.

  • Ties are possible during group stages, but ties during playoffs will be determined by a best 2 out of 3 penalty shootout.

  • Substitution are unlimited and must happen during dead ball situations, if the goalkeeping role is changing between players it must be announced to the referee who the current active goalkeeper is.

  • Dead balls happen after a foul is committed or the ball has gone out of bounds.

  • The referees will indicate fouls during the game at their own discretion and will caution players with a yellow card or send players off via 2 yellow card presentations to the same player or a direct red card as they see fit. Sent off players will require their team to play with one less field player regardless of available substitutions.

  • All dead balls are indirect free kicks were the ball must be passed to another teammate before a goal attempt, a goal will not count if it is deflected into the net by the opposing team before being passed to another teammate.

  • Goalkeepers are allowed to handle the ball with their hands within the crease.

  • After releasing the ball, the goalie cannot touch the ball again until an opposing player has touched the ball.

  • Goalkeepers cannot handle the ball if the ball is directly passed to them by their teammate with their foot. The ball may be handled by the goalkeeper if the ball is directed to them by their teammate with any other body part aside from their arms or legs.

  • There is no offside rule for 7 vs 7 or under.

Schedule:

  • Round robin tournament games are played for 30 minutes each game.

  • All games start and end at the referee's signal.

Recreational/ Competitive Volleyball Rules

Equipment:

  • On sand courts players are not obligated to wear shoes.

  • Appointed liberos will be given pinnies to identify as such.

  • Sunglasses are permitted.

  • No equipment shall be worn that is considered dangerous to another player as determined by the referee.

Rosters:

  • Each game is played 6 vs 6, each team is allowed to have substitutes if necessary. Teams must have at least 4 players on the courts.

  • Players can substitute with teammates outside of active play.

  • Teams can appoint a libero if they choose to, the libero may also be appointed to other teammates outside of active play during the match.

 

Match:

  • Each team only gets one serve attempt, a default will result in the other team getting the serve, the ball may hit the net during a serve as long as it lands in play. A default results in a point for the receiving team.

  • Liberos cannot play on the frontline, they are also not allowed to serve or spike the ball. 

  • Games will not be played in sets for round robin tournaments, the first team to 30 points wins or whichever team has the higher score after 30 minutes. Ties are possible during group stages, but ties at the end of playoffs will be determined by the first point scored by the team after 30 minutes. 

  • Backcourt players can score in the open tournament, but backcourt players cannot score in the competitive tournament. A ball returned by a backcourt player will result in a point for the opposing team as long as it is left untouched.

  • The team listed first on the schedule is the home team for that game.
     

Match:

  • Each game will be started with a tip-off

  • Each game will be played for 30 minutes, who ever has the most points at the end wins the game.

  • Each basket scored within the arc will count as one point, while any baskets made outside the arc will count as two points.

  • Ties at the end of the 30 minutes will be determined after a tip-off and the first point scored by either team.

  • A player fouled while trying to make a basket will go to the foul line to take one free throw. A player fouled trying to make a basket outside of the arc will go to the foul line and take two free throws. The team of the player taking the free throw may only rebound the ball if it touches the rim at least once.

  • Substitution are unlimited and must happen during inbound situations.

  • Inbounds happen after a foul is committed or the ball has gone out of bounds. Players that score a basket while being fouled will get to take one extra free throw.

  • The referees will run down the rules before each match to confirm each player's comprehension. Travels, double dribbles, backcourt violations, 10 second half court violations, and 5 second inbound violations will be called by the referee. The referee will call fouls during the game at their own discretion, player interference after a referee call may result in a technical foul.

  • Technical fouls called on a team will result in the opposing team getting one free throw and then posession of the ball again.

  • The competitive league will have a 30 second shot clock and the open league will have a 45 second shot clock.

Recreational/ Competitive Ball Hockey Rules

Equipment:

  • Hockey sticks will be made available to all players, or players can bring their own, players that bring their own sticks can only use hockey sticks with plastic blades.

  • Teams will be given pinnies to wear if they do not have their own team jerseys or their colours match the opposing team.

  • Helmets with face masks are only allowed to be worn by the goaltender, but the goaltender is not obligated to wear one as they must provide their own.

  • The goaltender must wear a blocker, catcher, and leg pads. If they are unable to provide their own a set will be provided that will be sanitized before and after each use.

  • Hockey gloves are allowed to be worn by the court players

  • No jewelry may be worn on the court, i.e., watches, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Medical Alert Bracelets are the only exception and they must be taped down. Taping of ornamental jewelry is not permitted. Prescription glasses may be worn but it is highly recommended they are worn with sports frames.

  • Each game is played 4 vs 4 including the goaltender, each team is allowed to have substitutes if necessary. Teams must have at least 3 players on the court.

  • Players can substitute with teammates at any time during active or inactive play.

  • For Coed teams there must be at least two female players and one male on the court at all times. Teams that only have one female on the court must play with a player down, this can also be applied if the team is able to have two female players on the court from their player lineup.

  • All teams are to present a printed team roster signed off to the referee before each game. If a player is not on the roster they can’t play unless the game official is able to contact the registrar to confirm their eligibility.
     

Match:

  • A ball drop at the center court will start the game and restart the game after a goal is scored.

  • Stick lifting is not allowed in the open tournaments/leagues but acceptable in the competitive tournaments/leagues.

  • High sticking, stick hooking, and body checking are not allowed and will result in the opposing team receiving the ball in a dead ball situation were no member of the offending team can attack the ball until a first pass is made. The team with the dead ball cannot score directly from a dead ball without a first pass. Deflections into the net from teammates  are allowed during dead ball scenarios.  

  • For every two times a player commits a foul the team will have to go down a player with the offending player unable to return to the game for 90 seconds, once the player serves their 90 seconds the team can return to full strength and the offending player can return to the game with their two fouls policy is restarted. A player's two foul policy also restarts if they have subbed off at least once before committing two fouls.

  • The referees will run down the rules before each match to confirm each player's comprehension.
